Lionsgate's Monopoly Movie to Get Screenplay From Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves Writers
John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, the creative duo behind the critically acclaimed Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, have been tapped to write the screenplay for Lionsgate's upcoming Monopoly movie. The announcement confirms Daley and Goldstein's involvement in adapting Hasbro's iconic board game for the big screen. Margot Robbie's LuckyChap Entertainment will produce the film.
Beyond Honor Among Thieves, Daley and Goldstein's recent projects include the original film Mayday, and they also contributed to the screenplays of The Flash and Spider-Man: Homecoming.
The Monopoly film adaptation has a long and winding history, with various attempts dating back to 2007 when Ridley Scott expressed interest in directing. Previous iterations involved screenwriters Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski (2011), Andrew Niccol (2015), and even a planned collaboration with Kevin Hart and Tim Story (2019). However, Lionsgate's acquisition of eOne from Hasbro appears to have revitalized the project, leading to this latest development. This new version, with Daley and Goldstein at the helm, promises a fresh take on the classic game.
