Warhorse Studios, the developer, announced this milestone on Twitter, celebrating the sequel's achievement as a resounding triumph, echoing their earlier celebration upon reaching the 1 million sales mark just one day after launch.
This remarkable feat underscores the immense popularity of Warhorse Studios' medieval RPG sequel, released on February 4th for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Embracer Group, Warhorse Studios' parent company, highlighted the game's exceptional performance on Steam, boasting over 250,000 concurrent players at its peak. This significantly eclipses the first Kingdom Come: Deliverance's peak of 96,069 concurrent players seven years prior. The actual peak player count is likely even higher, considering the console releases, though precise figures remain unavailable from Sony and Microsoft.
Embracer lauded Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's initial success, citing positive player and critical reception alongside strong sales figures. Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors attributed this success to the dedication of Warhorse Studios and publisher Deep Silver, expressing confidence in the game's continued revenue generation over the next few years. He emphasized the game's high quality, immersive gameplay, and broad appeal. Wingefors also highlighted Warhorse Studios' extensive roadmap, including updates and new content throughout the next year, ensuring ongoing player engagement.
The post-launch roadmap for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 includes three expansions slated for 2025. Spring 2025 will see free updates introducing features like a barber shop for character customization, Hardcore Mode, and horse racing. Summer will bring the first paid DLC, "Brushes with Death," following protagonist Henry as he assists a mysterious artist with a shadowy past. Autumn will feature the "Legacy of the Forge" expansion, delving into Henry's past through his adoptive father Martin's history. Finally, winter will release "Mysteria Ecclesia," where Henry undertakes a clandestine mission within the Sedlec Monastery.
