Candy Crush Solitaire: A Sweet Twist on a Classic Card Game

King, the creators of Candy Crush Saga, are entering the solitaire card game arena with their new title, Candy Crush Solitaire, launching February 6th on iOS and Android. This move likely stems from the recent success of Balatro, a popular roguelike poker game. Instead of simply copying the formula, King is cleverly integrating their signature Candy Crush elements into the classic tripeaks solitaire gameplay.

Expect familiar boosters, blockers, and a progression system reminiscent of the match-three series. Pre-registration is now open on both iOS and Android, offering exclusive in-game rewards such as a unique card back, 5,000 coins, four undos, two fish cards, and three color bomb cards.

A Strategic Move for King?

King's reliance on the Candy Crush franchise is well-known. While they haven't ventured into as much experimental territory as some other developers (like Supercell), Candy Crush Solitaire suggests a calculated effort to explore new avenues and engage their established audience. The popularity of Balatro likely played a role in this decision. Solitaire's classic appeal and broad audience make it a potentially lucrative market for King.
