Hot to Get Tier II/Fine Weapons and Armor in Avowed

Author : Jacob Update : Mar 16,2025

In Avowed, upgrading your weapons is crucial for survival. Early game encounters feature Common (Level I) weapons and enemies, but the difficulty quickly escalates to Level II, demanding Fine (Tier II) gear. Here's how to acquire and upgrade to this superior equipment.

Upgrading Weapons and Armor from Common (I) to Fine (II)

While some Fine Quality weapons and armor can be found or purchased directly, others require upgrading. Avowed uses a dual system to track gear effectiveness: Quality (indicated by descriptor, color, and Roman numeral) and Enhancement Levels (+1 to +3). Common (Green, I) gear needs to be upgraded through three enhancement levels (+1, +2, +3) before reaching Fine (Blue, II) status.

This upgrading process takes place at Party Camps, using workbenches. Each enhancement level demands specific materials, varying by gear type. The final upgrade to Fine (II) requires Adra, a rare crystal often obtained from quests, merchants, or by dismantling Unique gear.

While upgrading is effective, it's resource-intensive. Alternatively, Fine (II) gear occasionally spawns on Level II enemies, especially Bounties, in Dawnshore early in the game. However, remember that Common gear is significantly less effective against Level II enemies.

Merchants in Paradis also sell Fine (II) weapons and armor. Access to Paradis unlocks after defeating the Dreamscourge bear boss in Dawnshore. Two sisters run a shop near the Bounty Board: Merlylin sells magic-focused Fine items (grimoires, wands), while her blacksmith sister sells standard weapons and armor (pictured above).
