Diablo 4 Season 5 to Feature Novel Consumables

Diablo IV Season 5 Leak Reveals New Consumables and Infernal Hordes Mode

Exciting news for Diablo IV players! Details about Season 5, currently being tested on the Public Test Realm (PTR), are emerging, revealing the addition of four new consumables exclusive to the upcoming Infernal Hordes endgame mode. This week's PTR opening has shed light on these additions, alongside other Season 5 features.

Consumables in Diablo IV are items providing temporary buffs or replenishing resources. They're obtained through monster kills, chests, crests, or merchant purchases, and include healing potions, elixirs (offering buffs like increased armor), and incense (boosting maximum life or elemental resistance).

According to Wowhead, Season 5 introduces:

  • Antipathy: A rare anointment increasing resistance.
  • Blackblood: A common anointment boosting a random core stat.
  • Vitriol: A magical anointment enhancing damage over time.
  • Triune Anointment Cache: A new cache containing anointments, rare gear, and crafting materials.

Crucially, these consumables are specifically designed for the Infernal Hordes mode. Furthermore, crafting recipes for these anointments will be available, suggesting player creation will be possible.

Infernal Hordes: A Roguelite Endgame Experience

Season 5 also introduces Infernal Hordes, a new roguelite endgame mode. Players face waves of enemies, each lasting 90 seconds. After clearing a wave, players select from three modifiers altering subsequent gameplay. Naturally, higher difficulty equates to better rewards.

Similar to the Profane Mindcage Elixir in Helltides, Abyssal Scrolls will increase the challenge within Infernal Hordes. However, details regarding the new consumables—acquisition methods, usage costs, and crafting material requirements—remain scarce for now. The PTR, open until July 2nd, will hopefully reveal further information.
