At Evo 2024, Capcom showcased three of the seven games in the Marvel vs Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics, a complete package with six foundational titles from the popular Versus series. This collection includes Marvel vs Capcom 2, considered one of history's best fighting games. During the event, IGN interviewed Capcom producer Shuhei Matsumoto, who discussed the company's dedication to the Versus series and the long process of creating this collection.Matsumoto stated the collection's development spanned three to four years, emphasizing the commitment needed. The process started with extensive talks with Marvel, which initially postponed the launch. Nevertheless, the collaboration proved fruitful, with both companies eager to present these classic games to contemporary players. "We've been planning for about three, four years to make this project a reality," Matsumoto said. This commitment reflects Capcom's devotion to its fans and the lasting impact of the Versus series.
