Players embody Coen, a Dawnwalker—a being existing between human and vampire—in the fictional 14th-century world of Vale Sangora. Unlike typical protagonists, Coen is portrayed as emotionally vulnerable and relatable. His journey begins with a confrontation against Brencis, an ancient vampire who has subjugated Vale Sangora. Coen's mission: save his family within a 30-day/night timeframe. While the game adheres to this structure, the developers emphasize a flexible gameplay pace.
