The Battle of Polytopia Brings a New Game Mode Called Weekly Challenges

The Battle of Polytopia has injected a thrilling new competitive element: Weekly Challenges. This exciting addition offers a fresh way to test your strategic mettle in this beloved 4X strategy game.

From Randomness to Rigorous Competition

Polytopia’s charm lies in its inherent unpredictability—shifting enemies, fluctuating resources, and ever-changing maps. The free update, however, introduces a structured competitive arena. Each week, all players face the same map, tribe, and identical gameplay conditions. The goal? Achieve the highest score within 20 turns. With a limit of one attempt per day, you'll have seven chances to climb the leaderboards.

This new feature provides a unique opportunity to experience tribes you may not own. The game boasts 16 tribes—four included in the base game and twelve available for purchase. However, in Weekly Challenges, everyone competes with the same tribe, regardless of ownership.

The new mode introduces a compelling League system. Starting in the Entry League, players ascend (or descend) based on weekly performance. The top third advances, the bottom third drops, and the middle remains unchanged. Difficulty scales with league progression, starting with Easy AI in Entry League and escalating to Crazy difficulty bots in Gold League. Skipping a week prevents demotion but affects your ranking relative to other players.
