Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator is shutting down late in March
Atelier Resleriana's End: A Year-Long Journey Concludes
Koei Tecmo has announced the closure of Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator, just one year after its global launch. The game's servers will shut down on March 28th, with in-app purchases ending earlier on January 27th. Several in-game events are planned before the final shutdown, allowing players to enjoy the remaining content.
The developers cited an inability to maintain their initially established quality standards as the reason for the closure. Despite ongoing efforts to improve the game and introduce new events, they ultimately deemed continued operation unsustainable. Players can still utilize existing Lodestar Gems, though further purchases are no longer possible.
The game's struggles weren't unexpected. The saturated gacha market presents significant challenges for new titles, and Atelier Resleriana, despite promising concepts, faced difficulties in several key areas. Criticism centered around gacha rates and banner systems, hindering player progression. The alchemy mechanics, a core element of the Atelier series, failed to deliver the expected level of creative engagement. While the gameplay was functional, it lacked the compelling factor needed to compete effectively within the genre.
While many players have expressed a desire for an offline version on social media platforms like Twitter and Reddit, the likelihood of this happening remains slim. For those who enjoyed the turn-based RPG elements, the coming months offer a final opportunity to experience the game.
