Ubisoft's recent struggles with game releases have led to some significant changes. The company has canceled the early access release for Assassin's Creed Shadows, originally planned for those who purchased the Collector's Edition. Furthermore, the development team behind Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown has been dissolved.

Ubisoft confirmed the cancellation of Assassin's Creed Shadows' early access via a Discord Q&A. This follows the game's delay to February 14, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The decision, according to Insider Gaming, stems from challenges in ensuring historical accuracy and cultural representation. This, along with the need for further polish, contributed to the delay.

Assassin's Creed Shadows Collector's Edition Price Cut

To compensate, Ubisoft has reduced the price of the Assassin's Creed Shadows Collector's Edition from $280 to $230. The Collector's Edition still includes the artbook, steelbook, figurine, and other previously announced items. Rumors persist about a potential co-op mode featuring Naoe and Yasuke, but this remains unconfirmed. Season passes for the game have also been scrapped.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown Team Disbanded

The team at Ubisoft Montpellier responsible for Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown has been disbanded, despite the game's generally positive reception. French publication Origami reports that the decision was made due to disappointing sales figures, reflecting Ubisoft's overall challenging year.

Senior producer Abdelhak Elguess stated that the team is proud of their work and that the game's post-launch content roadmap is complete. Future plans include a Mac release "this winter" and a focus on bringing the game to a wider audience on various platforms. Elguess confirmed that team members have transitioned to other projects within Ubisoft. The company remains committed to the Prince of Persia franchise, promising future installments.
