Alienware Slashes Prices on RTX 4090 Gaming PCs
The GeForce RTX 4090, though a generation older than the new Blackwell 50 series GPUs, remains one of the most powerful graphics cards available, surpassing the performance of the GeForce RTX 5080, RTX 4080 Super, Radeon RX 9070 XT, and RX 7900 XTX. The only GPU that outperforms it is the RTX 5090, which is notoriously difficult to find at its original price due to high demand and markups.
As the RTX 4090 has been discontinued, it's becoming increasingly challenging to find. However, Dell offers two prebuilt gaming PC models that include this powerhouse GPU at competitive prices. The Alienware Aurora R16 starts at $2,999.99, while the Dell Tower Plus is available from $2,849.99. These are some of the best deals currently available for an RTX 4090-equipped system, as other manufacturers like Lenovo and HP have stopped offering RTX 4090 prebuilt PCs.
Alienware Aurora R16 RTX 4090 Gaming PC
Alienware Aurora R16 Intel Core Ultra 7 265F RTX 4090 Gaming PC
$2,999.99 at Alienware
This Alienware Aurora R16 gaming PC comes equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 7 265F CPU, GeForce RTX 4090 GPU, 16GB of DDR5-5200MHz RAM, and a 1TB NVMe SSD. The CPU can be upgraded to an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K, though for gaming, the default Intel Core Ultra 7 265F is more than sufficient. It boasts a max turbo frequency of 5.3GHz and 20 cores, cooled by a 240mm all-in-one liquid cooler. The system is powered by a robust 1,000W 80PLUS Platinum power supply.
Dell Tower Plus RTX 4090 Gaming PC

The Dell Tower Plus, while less flashy, packs similar specs with an Intel Core Ultra 7 265F CPU, GeForce RTX 4090 GPU, 16GB of DDR5-5200MHz RAM, and a 1TB NVMe SSD. For an additional $100, upgrading to the Intel Core Ultra 7 285K is recommended, as it not only enhances performance but also upgrades the cooling to a more robust "advanced air cooling" system, rated for 125W TDP. The system is powered by a 1,000W 80PLUS Platinum power supply.
How does the RTX 4090 stack up against current cards?
The RTX 4090 is the top performer among the RTX 40 series GPUs. Only the RTX 5090, with its $2,000 MSRP, surpasses it. This card can handle any game at 4K resolution, delivering over 60fps with all settings maxed out and ray tracing enabled, especially when DLSS is utilized. The only setting that challenges the RTX 4090, as well as other GPUs, is path tracing, which is typically used for benchmarks or showcasing. For most gamers, the RTX 4090's performance is more than adequate, making the RTX 5090's additional power unnecessary.
Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 GPU Review by Chris Coke
"The RTX 4090 may be large and pricey, but its performance is unmatched. As the only card of its generation currently available, it's compared to older models, yet it still delivers exceptional frame rates thanks to its impressive hardware and DLSS 3 AI technology. The $1,599 price tag feels justified given its capabilities."

Alienware Aurora R16 Intel Core Ultra 7 265F RTX 5080 Gaming PC
$2,399.99 at Alienware
Dell offers an Alienware Aurora R16 with the new GeForce RTX 5080 GPU for $2,499.99. The RTX 5080, part of the Blackwell series, is hard to find. According to our Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 FE review by Jackie, "For those with recent high-end graphics cards, the RTX 5080 may not offer significant improvements over the RTX 4080. However, it does enhance gameplay with DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Generation. For gamers upgrading from older cards, the RTX 5080 provides a substantial performance boost, especially if you're keen on Nvidia's AI enhancements."
