"New Alien: Earth Trailer Unveils Xenomorph and Nod to Ridley Scott's 1979 Classic"

A new trailer for the highly anticipated TV series, Alien: Earth, has surfaced online, giving fans an exhilarating glimpse into what's in store. The trailer, first unveiled at Disney's 2025 Annual Meeting of Shareholders, was shared by @CineGeekNews on X/Twitter. It showcases the harrowing journey of a spaceship's survivors as they navigate a catastrophic situation caused by a Xenomorph, hurtling towards Earth.

The trailer offers a striking new design for the Xenomorph, but what truly catches the eye is how closely Alien: Earth mirrors the aesthetic of Ridley Scott's iconic 1979 horror masterpiece. The setting inside a MU/TH/UR control room, reminiscent of the Nostromo from the original film, sets a chilling scene. Here, a desperate crew member pleads for help as the Xenomorph closes in, while Morrow, portrayed by Babou Ceesay, coldly reports the escape of the "specimens," declares the crew dead, and sets the ship on a collision course with Earth. The trailer then shifts to six soldiers approaching the crash site, hinting at the grim fate awaiting them.

The trailer raises numerous questions: Will Morrow survive? What drives his actions? Are there any other survivors among the crew? Has anyone been impregnated by the Xenomorph? And how will the soldiers meet their inevitable end?

Alien: Earth sets the stage for a gripping narrative, where a mysterious spaceship crash-lands on Earth. The story follows a young woman, played by Sydney Chandler, and a group of tactical soldiers as they uncover a terrifying secret that brings them face-to-face with Earth's greatest threat.

Set in the year 2120, Alien: Earth fits neatly into the Alien timeline, occurring after Prometheus and just two years before the events of Alien and the Nostromo's tragic fate. This positioning has led fans to speculate whether the series will depict the Nostromo's departure from Earth or reveal how the nefarious Weyland-Yutani corporation first learned about the Xenomorphs. For context, the recently released Alien: Romulus is set between Alien and Aliens.

In an interview last January, showrunner Noah Hawley discussed his decision to move away from the backstory introduced in Prometheus for Alien: Earth. Hawley, who appreciates the "retro-futurism" of the original films, consulted with Ridley Scott on various elements of the series. However, he chose to focus on the lore established in the earlier films, steering clear of the bioweapon narrative from the prequels.

Alien: Earth is slated to premiere on Hulu in the summer of 2025, with Alien: Romulus 2 also in development, promising more thrilling adventures in the Alien universe.
