Alan Wake 2 Tops 2 million Sales and Finally Starts Turning a Profit

Author : Aurora Update : Mar 21,2025

Alan Wake 2 has surpassed two million copies sold worldwide. This impressive figure builds on the game's already stellar performance, having sold 1.3 million copies between October 2023 and March 2024—a period that saw it crowned Remedy's fastest-selling game ever. Remedy's latest financial report confirms this milestone, further boosted by the release of The Lake House expansion and the Alan Wake 2 Deluxe Edition. The success has enabled the game to begin accruing royalties, having recouped its development and marketing costs.

Looking ahead, Remedy teases that Control 2, developed in partnership with Annapurna, is nearing completion of its production readiness stage and will enter full production at the end of February 2025. Simultaneously, the Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake continues to make steady progress in full production.

Remedy's multiplayer Control spin-off, FBC: Firebreak, also remains in full production. Following a successful closed technical test in December, which focused on matchmaking and backend services, FBC: Firebreak is slated for self-publication by Remedy later in 2025, though a precise release date is yet to be announced.

CEO Tero Virtala expressed confidence in Remedy's position, stating they are well-positioned to begin their strategic period and have set achievable targets.

IGN's review of Alan Wake 2 awarded the game a 9/10, praising it as a superb survival horror sequel that significantly surpasses its predecessor.
