However, if your symptoms do not match the readings, fingersticks are still required for accurate diabetes management decisions.

One of the standout features of the Dexcom G6 and G6 Pro is the comprehensive alert system. These systems deliver personalized trend alerts directly to your smart device, helping you stay informed about your glucose levels and potential risks of going too low or too high. The Alert Schedule feature allows for customization, enabling you to set different alert settings for various times of the day, such as during work hours. You can also choose custom alert sounds, including a Vibrate-Only option for your phone, though the Urgent Low Alarm cannot be turned off for safety reasons.

The Always Sound setting, enabled by default, ensures you receive critical Dexcom CGM Alerts even when your phone is set to silent, vibrate, or Do Not Disturb mode. This feature lets you silence calls and texts while still being alerted to important glucose information, including the Urgent Low Alarm, Low and High Glucose alerts, Urgent Low Soon Alert, and Rise and Fall Rate alerts. A Home screen icon indicates whether your Alerts will sound or not. For your safety, certain alerts such as Transmitter Failed, Sensor Failed, and App Stopped cannot be silenced.

Additional features enhance the user experience with the Dexcom G6 system. The Share feature allows you to transmit your glucose data to up to ten followers in real time via the Dexcom Follow app, which requires an internet connection. Health Connect integration enables sharing retrospective glucose data with third-party apps, facilitating a more integrated approach to health management. The Quick Glance feature provides easy access to your glucose data directly from your smart device's lock screen. For those using Wear OS, integration with these devices allows you to receive glucose alerts and alarms directly on your watch.

Please note that the Alert Schedule, Always Sound, Share, Follow, and Quick Glance features are not available on the Dexcom G6 Pro System.
