Tiered Pokémon Decks: Dominating the TCG Meta (December Update)

This tier list ranks the best decks in Pokémon TCG Pocket, a more casual and beginner-friendly version of the main Trading Card Game. While casual, a meta still exists, and some decks are inherently stronger.

Best Decks in Pokémon TCG Pocket

Effective deck building is crucial. Here are the top-performing decks currently available:

S-Tier Decks

Gyarados Ex/Greninja Combo

This deck utilizes a synergistic strategy. The core consists of: Froakie x2, Frogadier x2, Greninja x2, Druddigon x2, Magikarp x2, Gyarados Ex x2, Misty x2, Leaf x2, Professor’s Research x2, Poké Ball x2. Druddigon, with 100 HP, acts as a sturdy defender and inflicts consistent chip damage without energy investment. Simultaneously, Greninja delivers additional chip damage and serves as a secondary attacker. Finally, Gyarados Ex finishes off opponents weakened by the chip damage strategy.

Pikachu Ex

Currently the top deck. The core consists of: Pikachu Ex x2, Zapdos Ex x2, Blitzle x2, Zebstrika x2, Poké Ball x2, Potion x2, X Speed x2, Professor’s Research x2, Sabrina x2, Giovanni x2. Pikachu Ex's high damage output (90 for two Energy) makes it incredibly efficient and aggressive. Adding Voltorb and Electrode provides additional offensive options, with Electrode's free retreat being a significant advantage.

Raichu Surge

A slightly less consistent variant of the Pikachu Ex deck. The core consists of: Pikachu Ex x2, Pikachu x2, Raichu x2, Zapdos Ex x2, Potion x2, X Speed x2, Poké Ball x2, Professor’s Research x2, Sabrina x2, Lt. Surge x2. Raichu and Lt. Surge provide powerful bursts of damage. Zapdos Ex offers a reliable alternative attacker. Lt. Surge mitigates the drawback of discarding energy from Raichu, while X Speed facilitates strategic retreats.

A-Tier Decks

Celebi Ex and Serperior Combo

This Grass-type deck excels post-Mythical Island expansion. The core consists of: Snivy x2, Servine x2, Serperior x2, Celebi Ex x2, Dhelmise x2, Erika x2, Professor’s Research x2, Poké Ball x2, X Speed x2, Potion x2, Sabrina x2. Serperior's ability doubles Grass Pokémon energy, synergizing perfectly with Celebi Ex for amplified damage. Dhelmise provides a secondary attacker. However, this deck is vulnerable to Fire-type decks.

Koga Poison

A Poison-centric strategy. The core consists of: Venipede x2, Whirlipede x2, Scolipede x2, Koffing x2, Weezing x2, Tauros, Poké Ball x2, Koga x2, Sabrina, Leaf x2. Scolipede delivers massive damage to poisoned opponents. Weezing and Whirlipede spread Poison, while Koga facilitates efficient Pokémon deployment. Leaf reduces retreat costs, and Tauros serves as a powerful finisher against Ex decks. This deck counters Mewtwo Ex effectively.

Mewtwo Ex/Gardevoir Combo

This deck focuses on Mewtwo Ex supported by Gardevoir. The core consists of: Mewtwo Ex x2, Ralts x2, Kirlia x2, Gardevoir x2, Jynx x2, Potion x2, X Speed x2, Poké Ball x2, Professor’s Research x2, Sabrina x2, Giovanni x2. The strategy involves rapid evolution to Gardevoir, then powering up Mewtwo Ex for maximum damage. Jynx provides stalling and early-game offense.

B-Tier Decks

Charizard Ex

A high-damage deck featuring Charizard Ex. The core consists of: Charmander x2, Charmeleon x2, Charizard Ex x2, Moltres Ex x2, Potion x2, X Speed x2, Poké Ball x2, Professor’s Research x2, Sabrina x2, Giovanni x2. Charizard Ex deals immense damage, but relies on specific draws and timely setup. Moltres Ex aids in early-game energy acceleration.

Colorless Pidgeot

A surprisingly effective deck using basic Pokémon. The core consists of: Pidgey x2, Pidgeotto x2, Pidgeot, Poké Ball x2, Professor’s Research x2, Red Card, Sabrina, Potion x2, Rattata x2, Raticate x2, Kangaskhan, Farfetch’d x2. Rattata and Raticate provide early-game damage, while Pidgeot's ability disrupts opponents.

This tier list is subject to change as the Pokémon TCG Pocket meta evolves.
