Silent Hill f The First In Konami's Horror Series to Get an 18+ Rating In Japan
Silent Hill f marks a significant milestone for the franchise: it's the first Silent Hill game to receive an 18+ rating (CERO:Z) in Japan. This contrasts with previous entries, such as Silent Hill, Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill 3, and Silent Hill: The Room, which all received a CERO:C rating (15+). Even the Silent Hill 2 Remake, while receiving a mature rating in the West, only achieved a CERO:C rating in Japan. The game also boasts Mature ratings in the U.S. and PEGI 18 in Europe, as shown in its reveal trailer.
While the rating is subject to change as development continues, this higher rating hints at a potentially more intense and graphic experience than previous installments. The recent Silent Hill Transmission focused entirely on Silent Hill f, offering a glimpse into its unsettling atmosphere.
Set in 1960s Japan, Silent Hill f follows Shimizu Hinako, a teenager grappling with societal pressures. The narrative is penned by Ryukishi07, the creator of the acclaimed When They Cry visual novel series. The reveal trailer showcases Hinako’s distress, depicting her in bloody, wounded states, her uniform torn. The trailer also provided a look at the game’s unsettling setting and unique monster designs, suggesting a disturbing “Otherworld” filled with blood-red flowers.
Currently, there is no release date for Silent Hill f. Further information regarding No Code's Silent Hill Townfall remains unavailable.
