The Last of Us Season 2 Release Date Confirmed

Author : Carter Update : Mar 17,2025

HBO's hit series, The Last of Us, returns for its highly anticipated second season on Sunday, April 13th, at 9 pm ET/PT, streaming simultaneously on Max. This seven-episode season picks up five years after the events of season one, finding Joel and Ellie settled with Tommy in his Montana commune. Prepare for a dramatic adaptation of The Last of Us Part II, familiar territory for gamers.

PlayReturning are Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie, joined by a stellar cast of newcomers: Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, Merle Dandridge as Marlene (Young Mazine's role as Jesse is not mentioned in the original text, so I am removing it), and Tati Gabrielle as both Nora and the lead protagonist in Naughty Dog's upcoming game, *Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet*.

Following the phenomenal success of season one—garnering numerous Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards and Primetime Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series—HBO is clearly invested in the future of The Last of Us. Francesca Orsi's confirmation of a four-season plan suggests that this season won't fully encompass the entire game's storyline.
