Pokémon TCG Pocket Players Blown Away After Discovering Some Cards Reference Iconic Game Boy Locations
Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket players are discovering delightful hidden details in the game's card art, connecting the illustrations to the beloved Game Boy games. The discovery began when Reddit user asch_win highlighted that the Spearow card features landmarks resembling Celadon City Department Store and Route 16 from Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen. This seemingly intentional reference sparked further investigation.
Fellow Reddit user jteede uncovered more connections, noting a Diglett card set near Vermillion City and a Haunter card positioned beside Lavender Town's tower. Asch_win also revealed location references within several Supporter cards.
While many card illustrations depict Pokémon in fantastical settings, some, including a Pikachu variant, are recognizable real-world locations. Others are unique to Pokémon TCG Pocket, adding to the charm of these Easter eggs. The community is actively searching for more hidden references. Recent findings include the S.S. Anne on a Gyarados card and a storyline involving Oddish, Venonat, and Bellsprout cards set near the seaside Snorlax location in FireRed and LeafGreen.
Since its October release, Pokémon TCG Pocket has received one additional booster expansion, Mythical Island, bringing the total to four. More expansions are anticipated, along with new cards added through Wonder Pick Events and updates. Players are encouraged to continue exploring the cards for further hidden references.
Currently, a Wonder Pick event featuring Charmander and Squirtle is underway. For more information, you can read about the current Wonder Pick event and the ongoing discussion regarding pack choice impact.
