Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Hosting Year of the Snake Mass Outbreak Event

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's Snake-Themed Mass Outbreak Event

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet players are slithering into a new event! A Mass Outbreak featuring Silicobra, Ekans, and Seviper is underway, celebrating the upcoming Year of the Snake. This limited-time event offers boosted Shiny encounter rates for these serpentine Pokémon.

The event, running from January 9th to January 12th, follows closely on the heels of a Shiny Rayquaza Tera Raid event that concluded 2024's Year of the Dragon. While Rayquaza is obtainable via the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC, the Shiny variant's rarity made the raid event a highly sought-after opportunity.

This new Mass Outbreak provides a similar chance for Shiny hunting. Silicobra will appear throughout Paldea, Ekans in Kitakami, and Seviper in the Terarium. Pokémon levels will range from 10 to 65, scaling with player progression in the main story. Accessing the event requires an internet connection; players must navigate to the Poke Portal via the in-game menu and select "Get Poke Portal News."

Key Details of the Snakelike Mass Outbreak (January 2025):

  • Event Duration: January 9th - January 12th.
  • Featured Pokémon: Silicobra, Ekans, and Seviper.
  • Increased Shiny Odds: A 0.5% base Shiny rate increase (before any multipliers).
  • Internet Connection Required: Players must connect online to trigger the event.

To further boost Shiny odds, players can utilize Shiny Sandwiches. For Ekans and Seviper, a Salty or Spicy Herba Mystica combined with a Green Bell Pepper is recommended. For Silicobra, substitute the pepper with Ham.

With the anticipated launch of Pokémon Legends: Z-A in 2025, the future of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet remains uncertain. The Pokémon Company's plans for the Year of the Snake are yet to be revealed. This Mass Outbreak event, however, offers a thrilling and timely opportunity for players to expand their Pokédex and potentially catch some rare Shiny Pokémon.
