Overwatch 2 makes a triumphant return to China on February 19th, bringing with it a wave of events and rewards. Chinese players will finally rejoin the action on Future Earth, enjoying a celebration marking the game's relaunch. This follows a successful technical test (January 8th-15th) which allowed players to experience missed content, including Overwatch: Classic and six post-shutdown heroes.
Following the test, Overwatch 2 detailed the exciting offerings for Chinese players. Game director Aaron Keller announced a multi-week celebration on Xiaohongshu (RedNote), featuring popular events and rewards missed over the past two years. All players will earn Battle Pass rewards from Seasons 1 and 2 before relaunch, with Seasons 3-9 rewards available through in-game events afterward.
Chinese Mythology – An Overwatch 2 Season 15 Theme?
Keller also revealed that Season 15 will include skin bundles inspired by Chinese mythology. Whether these are new or existing skins, exclusive to China, or part of a larger thematic season remains to be seen. This follows the Norse mythology theme of Season 14, hinting at a potentially significant seasonal focus.
The wait for details won't be long. Season 15 begins February 18th, just before the China relaunch. Expect further information, including a full reveal, in early February.
In the meantime, players globally can enjoy the Min 1, Max 3 6v6 test (January 21st-February 4th), featuring the classic 2-2-2 team composition. The Lunar New Year and Moth Meta Overwatch: Classic events are also planned before Season 15. While Chinese players may miss these events, their own special celebrations are on the horizon.
