Mikami and Suda Hint at a Killer7 Sequel and Remaster
Killer7: Beyond or Killer11?
During the Grasshopper Direct, Shinji Mikami and Goichi "Suda51" Suda discussed the possibility of both a Killer7 sequel and a complete edition of the game. The focus was primarily on the upcoming remastered version of Shadows of the Damned, but the conversation turned to future projects. Mikami declared his love for Killer7, calling it a personal favorite and expressing his hope for a sequel.
Suda51 shared Mikami's enthusiasm, suggesting a sequel was a possibility, even playfully tossing around potential titles like "Killer11" or "Killer7: Beyond."
Killer7, a cult-favorite action-adventure game blending horror, mystery, and Suda51's signature over-the-top violence, debuted in 2005 on GameCube and PlayStation 2. The game follows Harman Smith, an elderly man with seven distinct personalities, each possessing unique abilities and weaponry. Despite its dedicated fanbase, a sequel has remained elusive. Even after the 2018 PC remaster, Suda51 has indicated a desire to revisit his original vision.
Suda51 proposed a "Complete Edition" of Killer7, an idea Mikami jokingly dismissed. However, further discussion revealed that the original vision included extensive dialogue for the character Coyote, which could be restored in a complete edition.
The prospect of a sequel or a complete edition sparked a wave of excitement among fans. While specifics are yet to be confirmed, the developers' enthusiasm has fueled anticipation for Killer7's future.
Mikami suggested a Complete Edition would be well-received, prompting Suda51's response: "We'd have to decide which comes first, Killer7: Beyond or the Complete Edition."
